There are many people who are joining the online blackjack community every day. And among these people there are many who have heard abaout blackjack for the first time in their lives. This article is intended to help these people to learn how to play blackjack.
First of all, to learn how to play blackjack, you need to know that the game of blackjack is played against the dealer (either online and in real world). The object of the game is to obtain a hand of higher value than the dealer’s hand, without breaking 21. If your hand has value more than 21 - you automatically loose the game. This is called busting.
Hand value is determined by adding together all of the cards in your hand. Cards from 2 to 10 are worth their face value in points. For example, 10-card worth ten points. Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth ten points, while Aces may worth either ten points or one point (it’s up to you to decide which would be better for the certain game situation).
To learn how to play blackjack you must keep in mind that the game begins with betting. You ought to make your bet before game starts. After betting the dealer deals two cards out to each player placing them face up on the table. Then dealer takes two cards, but places one of them face down. At this moment, you need to decide what to do - to hit, stand, split, or double down. Stand means that you are satisfied with you current hand and don’t want be dealt any more cards. When you hit - the dealer gives you additional card in order to increase the value of your hand. When you hit, remember not to break 21. More experienced players also use split and double down. Splitting means that you will split your initial two-card into two separate hands and play them separately. When you are doubling up you may only get one more additional card.
When the game ends the dealer flips over his face down card to reveal his hand. Now everything is simple - if your hand is higher than the dealer’s without breaking 21 then you win with 1:1 payout on your bet. If you win with a two-card hand that worth 21 points you win a 3:2 payout. And if the dealer beats you - your bet goes to the house.
Remember, the best way to learn how to play blackjack is to play it!
